So sorry this post is terribly late! I was having difficulties with the photos and been busy with final projects from other classes all week. It's that time of the semester!
This plushie has a more advance pattern than my last one. I got the pattern from Etsy here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/transaction/161523877?ref=fb2_tnx_title
For material I wanted to work with some thing different so I went to Value Village to see what I can find. I looked through many different fabric options and finally came across some old polyester pajamas that were inexpensive and a nice soft blue material.
when I got home I printed out the pattern and cut up the pajamas and got all my material prepared for my second plushie!
Next is the cut out the pattern shapes and pin it onto the fabric and cut it again
After cutting out all the pieces it was time to sew them together. Instead of using the back stitch like with the last plushie I decided to used a running stitch.
next I had to attach the ears which was quite tricky and a bit difficult to do and also I had more pieces to sew together which was challenging.
After I finished sewing the head the next was the body.
Sewing the body reminded me of the loaf plush pattern with the short legs, but it was way more difficult to sew. The shape was also more different and required to be sewn in different angles.
Here is the body! It was sewn inside out like last time so the stitching is hidden when turned inside out. Next is time to attach the head piece to the body!
Here is a frightening image! I had to push the head into the body and sew it at the middle of the neck and then pull the whole thing inside out which requires patience and delicate handling.
There we go all the turning inside out paid off! With trying the running stitch the thread of the stitching is very well hidden which is a big improvement from the last plush :)
I also added the black eye buttons to this plush as well, now time for stuffing!
She got a lot of stuffing, I think I may have put to much in the head XD
After all the stuffing it is time to add the mane and tail. I used the same felt was the last plush.
And now she is finished!!!!!
I really enjoyed making this plush and learned so new techniques for my future plushies and I feel I have also grown a bit as a seamstress as well but it's only the begging! I am half way finished my third project and will be posting the photos shortly so stay tuned!
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your weekend :)
Heyylo Raven!
ReplyDeleteI just love your plushies so much!!! They are so freaking cute I can't even handle it… I want one!! I seriously think that you should keep making them after this though, you could totally sell them. Have you thought about using a sewing machine? Or would that be too hard because they are so small? You should make a big plush!!!! I think it would be cool if you did a series of the loaf plushies as loafs of bread with different spreads on them… maybe i'm hungry haha. Awesome job though, I luuurve them.
